![]() Why CAD? The first step in any creative endeavor is coming up with an idea. Ideation tools like CAD (computer aided design) allow the maker to work out functionality and finalize details before spending resources to create a physical object. CAD programs are also needed to translate the idea to computer controlled tools such as 3d printers, milling machines, laser engravers, etc. Knowledge of CAD is also a valuable skill for anyone looking to work in technology, design, architecture, engineering, video game development, manufacturing and many emerging fields. IS CAD DIFFICULT TO LEARN? Traditionally CAD programs were the domain of highly trained engineers and designers. The programs were clunky, difficult, and required many hours of study. CAD is still an area of tremendous complexity as many industry level CAD systems can now analyze material stresses, fluid dynamics, physics simulations, and manufacturing processes. However, CAD doesn't have to be difficult... INTRODUCING MOI3d The Village Workshop has partnered with MOI3D (Moment Of Inspiration) for CAD software. Beginner classes will start mid summer (stay tuned for details). MOI3d is simply the easiest CAD system to learn while offering very powerful capabilities. In fact, its not and exaggeration to say that MOI is actually FUN to learn. Whether you're a beginner or professional, MOI will surprise you with its ease of use and functionality in 2d and 3d design. Hope to see you in class!
